2000 Kawasaki Ninja 250 with about 3500 miles. Few scratches here and there and the clutch lever was replaced after a drop, but these things are meant to be dropped right? :x:

Felt really good riding it back to my apartment, about 20 miles - shifting was smooth, braking was just right. It started up without a hitch. Rode it along the PCH past LAX airport amidst lots of traffic, and it is pretty shocking how much more I noticed about the road on my bike as opposed to in my car. Now reading a bunch of maintenance stuff on the 250 Ninja wiki. I'm real excited, it felt so good to ride :bigthumb:

3500 miles on a 9 year old bike? do people not ride these things?

how old are tires? hopefully not the originals, if they are, change the tires, don't even look at the thread, the rubber is basically worthless...

other than that, congrats on the bike :big grin:

I've noticed that with Ninja 250's, I don't know if people ride them for a bit and then forget to sell them or what.

Hell, I've only had my bike for 2 months and have almost 2k mi on it already.

    They will wheelie.
When you think you're bored with it, convert it to dirt and continue to have fun:

    Congrats, Lukkie!

And yea, what 7960 said: you are invisible. They won't hear you, they won't see you... and the ones that DO won't give a shit, or worse- they hate motorcycles.

    Jeez. I put 4,000 on my '09 250R in a few months!

Thanks everyone :) Also just had my first real scare today. I was making a left turn on busy streets (Santa Monica>Westwood for you LA folk), where there are two left turn lanes, I was on the far left one. There was an SUV behind me and as I was ending the turn, I guess he thought I was going into the right lane (which I can't since there's a giant white stripe separating the two lanes) so he sped up trying to take the spot I was in as I was pulling back to the middle of the lane. Luckily I caught this and pulled the throttle hard and was able to pull forward out of the way. Ugh.

Then a friend of mine who saw me carrying my helmet after I was back on campus told me I made a huge mistake buying this bike while I live in LA and I should return/sell it right away. lol.

    mad fun though overall :)

What 7960 said: you are invisible.

The cagers that can see you either A) hate motorcyclists and WANT to kill you, or B) just don't give a shit.

Carry a pocket full of paintballs for tailgaters.

Just what you need, a pissed off person tailgating you while you're on a motorcycle.

    :werd:

I'd rather move out of the way and live to ride again, than be "right" and get rear-ended.

I'm all for pissing people off in my car, I get a new car out of it...and I got my car cheaper than what the payout will be :naughty:, but on a bike that's asking for a death sentence.

    no.

I've seen people do some pretty stupid things, so I stopped assuming people were joking when they said stuff like this.

Well... if it was something I would do, I wouldn't post about it on an internet forum. Might make it hard for my lawyers. I'll remember a smilie next time ;)

Sarcasm/joking tones are hard to convey through the internet. And x2 on what 7960 said.

If I got bored of a 250, that's what I'd do to it.
