Yes, any SATA drive should work fine. Although the 200GB Hitachi is the fastest SATA laptop drive out right now, that's why I chose it. Finding it for a deal was just a nice bonus.

Well... I used superduper to copy my drive over. Problem is I just realized that it did not copy my other Partitions across :hs: I just had ubuntu running perfectly too :o

Bah, Carbon Copy Cloner didn't prove helpful either. :sad2:

Looks Like I'm going to have to reinstall from scratch

You can access the had drive in any computer/laptop. You just have to know how to do it.

Let us know the details of the hard drive. Does it drain battery any quicker? Does it get warmer? Is the drive louder?

Don't know about battery life yet, but from what I've seen it shouldn't affect it much if at all. I also haven't noticed any heat increases, but it is just a hint more audible. Thr seek and access noises are about the same, it's just the spin noise, but like i said, it's hardly audible

Made a thread about a month back when I put in a 250gb drive in my MBP. Few tips in there.

I went with the raptor and it is dead silent and cool. Pretty fast for a 5400 but I went with size over the speed.

I read that the battery life isn't affected enough (if any) for anyone to notice.

so, since i have a macbook, i'm guessing i could use the following setup

connect the new hard drive to a sata2.5""to3.5pata" convertor (i already have this), have the converter plugged into the ide connector of an external hard drive, plug that into the macbook's usb

essentially it's taking the new hard drive and hooking it up to usb, that should work, right?

Yeah, that'd work. You're just doing this to copy from an old drive to a new one right?
