I know it's slow and not the greatest, but I need some more reach and this will work for most of the stuff I want to shoot. I'm excited :x:

    The 70-300 is much sharper

edit: nevermind, I thought they were much closer in price.

retard I told you the 70-300 VR is a waste of money, get the 70-300 AF-S if you are on a budget

wut, the VR version's build quality and sharpness is much better. You're getting more than just VR.

I shoot canon. I don't have any quality glass longer than my Tammy 17-50.

yeah i agree about the budget part. for $225, a 55-200 VR will be nice for me to learn with and use

the 70-300 would be better but holy expensive

I bought a D90 a few weeks ago with an 18-105mm VR and a 55-200mm VR. The 55-200mm really isn't bad (especially considering its cost), and I rarely get out my Tamron 70-300mm for the extra reach.

The Tamron was a "budget" lens that I bought just because I wanted to expand beyond the kit lens on my D40x, but because it focuses so damn slow without the AF motor I rarely use it :hs: And when my only camera body was the D40x, I almost NEVER used the Tamron 70-300mm. That long of lens without AF is a pain in the ass :o

If you're anything like me, you'll like the 55-200mm VR just enough to know that you'd really like the 70-200mm f2.8 VR :mamoru:

yeah i agree with you. i was in DC today shooting with my kit 18-105. i found myself wanting to max it out a lot, but i felt 105 was pretty close to what i'd want. almost twice that would be VERY NICE

    lens comes tomorrow, can't wait
