    Nikon 50mm f/1.8

Its my first lens without a zoom. I couldn't justify spending $200-250 more on the f/1.4 - at least for my purposes- I'm pretty excited. I'll have it in about a week. :eek3:

Picked it up for $109 and got a tiffen UV filter too :bigok:

Everyone seems to love this lens.

just make sure you don't have to shoot anything too far away or too close (or too wide).

I have the 1.4 and its a great lens. I've never heard anything about that one either, so you're getting a great lens. :bigthumb:

my 28-80mm G is pretty awesome, but you can't buy it new anymore. it's under $100 though

The 50 was probably the most used lens in my bag (my old Minolta bag that is). I'm sure my new 50 will see just as much use.

my ONLY complaint is that with most digital slr sensors, it's longer than i'd like it to be.

so i just take a few steps back

Which also makes the 50mm a good portrait lens for crop cameras.
