Cree diode, 1xAA, battery life is probably going to suck, but it's not really a hassle to toss an extra battery in your car for when you need it. Aircraft type "Maglite" aluminum chassis and good solid rubber O-rings on both ends. I wouldn't trust the seals underwater for very long, but I'm sure it's watertight enough to use it in the rain without worry.

The light is quite bright and would be more likely used as a defensive tool - If someone is threatening me I can use the light to blind them/take their attention off my other hand which will be going for my gun :o

Oh, and it's quite small also, easily small enough to leave in a coat pocket and forget about it. It's about 5" long.

That's a myth. I've shined plenty of lights in my eyes many times. Can still see. Congratulations on the purchase though. You should try a different Chinese brand next.

Oh, and of course if you've never ordered from dealextreme before, prepare to wait for a solid 10 business days after you get the "Order shipped" email. :o

    TEMPORARILY blind them

If I want to blind them for real, I'll have to carry my 30mW green laser :o

I may see spots, but can still see. I wouldn't count on a light as a defensive tool. Seriously. I think you're better off using it as an impact weapon. :o But then training comes into play.

Have you ever had a cop shine a flashlight into your face as he was walking toward you? You can't see a fucking thing he's doing, all you see is a silhouette and a bright light in your eyes.

If it helps me ID a target at home, or gives me an extra second when I need it, it's worth it :dunno:

:bigthumb: Can't argue with that. More time to run, right? :mamoru:

I've had that one for a while. Really nice. More recently I bought their Romisen RC-N3. I tried to post a link to it & the board won't let me.
It uses a single CR123A and is brighter and shorter. It also comes with an extension which allows you to use two AAs.
The bezel around the lens is serrated and does more damage in a fight.

I don't understand the fascination with shitty products that are said to be "awesome". buy a decent flashlight. you might actually need it.

Q5's and R2's are the brightest of the single diode CREE's. Great lights.

easily the best ultra-small flashlight i've ever had

the only bad thing is it takes 2 123A batteries, and uses them way too fast :hs:

The LED version, the Strion, has an odd shaped ring around the head that i'm not a fan of, so I haven't spent the coin to get that. Also, both lights are expensive.

I too have some cheapy LED flashlights, both around the house and in the car. Hell, I even carry one as a backup of a backup in my duty bag for work. But I would never rely on one as my primary light.

That's why I always block out their lights with my hand. It annoys the fuck out of them, but they can still see me, which is the more important half of the equation for them anyway.

Oh, and I have the flashlight in my AV. It runs for about an hour on the highest setting, on a single RCR123 battery.
