I bought 2 Planet Audio 10"s with an 800 watt Rockford Fosgate amp pushing them from a guy I know at work, and he installed everything for me. Normally I would get it installed at a shop, but since he used to work at a shop installing systems I figured there would be no problem.

Let me kind of describe it. He had to drill a hole in my firewall since there wasn't one already there to run the wire to the battery. I think that may have something to do with my first concern. Whenever my car is idling, just sitting with the engine running, I hear a kind of whining/humming noise from the direction of the engine. When I press the brak it stops, and when I press the gas it stops. Running 4 guage wire if that helps.

Also, my check engine light has been on since he installed it. I don't know what this could be from, since all he did in the engine area was drill the firewall hole and attach the wire to the battery. I'm going to reset it and then if it comes back on I'll get it checked out I suppose.

Last thing. Ever since he installed it my brake has been a lot lighter than normal, I guess that's the right way to put it. Sort of like I have to press the brake a lot more gingerly than I used to for it to slow down.

    Any help?

Yeah, my car battery died for the second time since it was installed. The first time I was in traffic and not moving much so I could understand the battery getting drained, but this last time I was actually driving. Luckily I was in my neighborhood and it didn't matter much, but shit this has got to stop. Would getting a new battery stop this?

I just rememberd something. When he was installing the amp, it wasn't getting power (we found out later it was because of something with the ground) so he took off the ring terminal connecting the power wire to the battery. Right now it is just the stripped wire connected in the battery terminal with no ring terminal. Could that be why the amp is sucking so much power up?

Take it back to the place and demand they fix it, or put it back to normal along with a refund. Then proceed to take it to a pro shop and have them do it right. OR, learn to do it yourself, then you're the only one responsible.

    wow what a hack job.

seriously take Everything off, get your car looked at by a mechanic and then get everything reinstalled from scratch by someone who CURRENTLY WORKS at an install shop, not someone who once in their life worked in a install shop.

There's just so much stuff that is FUNDAMENTALLY WRONG with your install that it's not even worth it to try to help you now. Just take it off.

Do it right the first time cheapass
