Been driving for 10 years and never got a ticket before until now. got marked for 80 @ 65 zone. what makes it even worse is that I was 110 miles away from my home city. Any tip for me on what I should/can do?

Suck it up and pay. Judging by tone.. seems like you admit you were speeding. Shouldn't be too bad, maybe you can take a class

Chances are they will drop it for you anyways considering your record.

15mph over is not bad. I would just pay the ticket and take a driving class to reduce your insurance because it will be going up a little.

dont contest the violation, eat the fine, and ask for traffic school?

Show up to court if thats possible, chances are good they usually drop the points and you just pay the fine

no points = no insurance hike

  7. take defensive driving! my insurance sux right now b/c i would always just pay the fine...
    just my .02

oh and if you have the cash, maybe get a lawyer to take care of it. a couple times i had done that and i didnt even have to do defensive driving, but it was still taken off my record. i just dont know how well that works if you were so far from your home town...

i would do that. In fact, did it twice already.

if you do this, the violation is supposed to go off your record when you show them the certificate for traffic school. even when you apply to jobs that require extensive background checks, these violations are never seen once they are 5 years old. so if you are going to constantly get tickets, then maybe that is a bad choice. if you dont plan to get a lot of tickets or any, then take the quoted advice :eek3:
