Never been overseas... Heard Germany rules. Anyone there now?
I was there for 3.5 years, loved it. I was stationed in Mannheim.
That's one thing thing I envy about you army/airforce/navy people. Not that I didn't like or have fun in Okinawa, I'd much rather be in Europe.
I spend a little time in Stuttgart, loved it. Have fun out there.
No, IT Specialist... Department of the Army civie. YA-2210-02... heh.
Got out of the AF back in 11/06...
I want to head that way after my 3 years in Germany...
Step 1 2 or 3? I probably know who your boss is. Keep tabs with me I'll tell you who to know and who to blow over there.
How much does the Navy do in Europe? I know there European HQ or w/e is somewhere near Italy or Sicily or something like that... But do they have as big a presence over there as the Army/Air Force?
Step 1... oh well... I get LQA(Living Quarters Allowance) too.
Grew up in Spangdahlem, Germany. You will love it.
Been 2 weeks out of the 4-6 week average wait period for my passport. Really anxious.
Germany is bad ass. Where in Germany?
Are you USAF? I heard that's where they're shipping a bunch of AF from S. Korea here in like 3 months
oh shit, posted before read the thread.
But yeah Germany is awesome
Spent some time at Ramstein AB..
Gemany rocks, I could live there
Hey! I am US Army, stationed in Schweinfurt germany. The town is home to 172nd IN BDE, based on two posts about 2 miles apart (Ledward and Conn Barracks)
The brigade used to be 2BCT 1st ID but reflagged after the last deployment. We are currently in the process of moving to Grafenwohr right now (about 2 hours away). There are a couple other battalions in this location who are not affiliated with 172nd...but the vast majority of Schweinfurt is with that brigade.
We are all currently deployed to Iraq right now, we depoyed late november 2008 and should be back December 2009. Schweinfurt is a nice community, has a lot of interesting places to see. It is also pretty geographically centered between both munich (2.5 hours drive) and Berlin (4.5 hours drive). Ramstein is about 2-3 hours and there are plently more places worth seeing that are a lot closer. I have been stationed there 2 years now, deployed for most of it but still gotten out quite a bit.
Anyways keep in touch, I live off post with my wife and son in a quaint little german village and have plenty of local knowledge. Enjoy your tour in germany!!!
Hey dude! My orders say USA Health Clinic, Office of the commander. Is that close by you? Anyways it will be my wife, 2 kids(boys 4 and 3), and myself. Also if I am allowed to keep brewing my beer I will have some ready for you when you get back!
Looks like I should be ok.
