...and i have a couple questions.

how long is it before i can drink alcohol? the piercer said two weeks buuttt i'm hoping that he's just playing it safe. if i do decide to drink alcohol, what kind would be best ?

annnd what's the best way to clean the piercing out? i'm using cuetips, putting the anti-bacterial soap on them, applying to both sides of the piercing, then rinsing out under the sink. is this legit?

    thanks OT :wavey:

when you wash your face, wash the piercing too and do the anti-bac soap like you have been. When you eat, rinse out your mouth after. I did salt rinses twice a day for the first week for my lip.

I don't suggest drinking as it thins the blood and may also irritate he piercing, but more knowledgable people onthe alcohol subject may let you know more accurately..

Was the concern over alcohol that it would come in contact with the pircing, or that you shouldnt ave it in your system?

If its about it comming into contact, use a straw!! I have my piercing done "down there" and had beers the same night, and no side affect 4 months later.

just that it might come in contact with it. i think i can handle a 6 pack with a straw, it'd make a great conversation piece.

It's the yeast in beer I was told that you need to stay away from when I got mine pierced, that was a while ago though so I don't really remember very well. And by all means, use chapstick....I know what you are going through, I couldn't stand it.

Haha, it's still weird putting chapstick on to me. I've been pierced for months.

Probably your best bet. The first time I think I managed to go 3 weeks without alcohol, probably broke down and had a beer and it healed fine. The second time I went about 10 days and then had a beer and that healed fine also. I think as long as you take care of it and don't say like...drink a beer and let it soak on the lip and after you're done, do the usual cleaning procedures, I think you'll be ok. But then again, everyone is different, so you might want to play it safe for at least a couple weeks.

When I got my tongue pierced they told me to avoid alcohol for 2-3 weeks, but two days later I was sitting around drinking a couple beers ... no problems at all. Just keep it clean.

if you can swing it, use biotine for mouthwash. it's like 4-7 bucks a bottle depending on where you go.
