cool. you don't really need both of the brass posts for the swivel head.

ok thanks..i plan on using a sync cord on the vivitar and mounting the cactus on teh flash. but aluminum shoe mount that comes with the stand is kinda scary. is it safe to mount a flash on it? since the cactus lets me screw it into the stand.

there should be a plate on top of your adapter/umbrella holder that looks like a hotshoe for the flash to sit in.

mine is screwed into the post below it and it looks like we've got the same one. i've had my cactus trigger with either of my flashes (viv 285 and 550ex) up there. its rather tall and can wobble a bit, but i've never had it fall. i'd be more worried about my cactus trigger dropping the flash than the adapter. its a more solid connection than the small knob on the side of the cactus trigger.

if you remove the top half of the brass post at the top of the stand, it will help it seem more solid. one thing to make sure of though, if you put that metal shoe adapter on top of there, cover over the inside part so it doesn't short out and kill your flash.

gadgetinfinity.com ebay wireless trigger and you will see there ebay store.

i paid just about $40 for the stand and the head shipped from bhphoto.com

ALSO: on the taping part...u cant really cover the whole mount with just one piece of electric tape some parts are still exposed or do u just have to cover the contact part and not the whole flash foot
