Actually, I've had a problem finding 10lb plates in the area. :ugh:
Yeah, sure they're coming, week after week, same answer. :(
I bought a few at walmart to tide me over. :(

I just went to the basement to look...

    Exercera?

    http://www.exercera.com/bars/OB/TODH.html

They were a gift... Dunno where they got em... Play it again? Dicks?

The weight locks are shit, but I have a good pair already, so it's not a big deal...

you can run out of weight, mine only hold like 3 25's per side, and 45's or 35's would just make them too unwieldy.

Not to bump an old thread, but how did these work out for you? I'm curious how they compare to regular fixed dumbells since you've been using em a few weeks now. I'm thinking about picking up a pair of these myself.

I've got a set of those right now (though they only go up to 25, so I'm going to get rid of them I think). The pin keeps falling out for me on those.

I can see where you'd run out of space on the oly dumbells, but it seems to me if you can get 3 x 25's per side, that a 150 lb dumbell would be plenty for my purposes.....

You ahve the sport set and it is old. The new sets have a better pin and the new elite set can go up to 130lbs. :naughty:

Tits. But a little pricey. So I guess the question then is whether the new Elites are worth $500 or w/e more than a pair of oly dumbell handles. I think I'll go with the cheaper choice for now.. lol

Yup but keep in mind the amount of plates you'll have to buy to have a complete set. Whatever you prefer :dunno:

    I LOVE them.

But the collars suck monkey dick.

They've actually slipped off a couple times... Could've been dangerous...

The design would be ok, but cheap worksmanship makes the screw cross thread when pressure is applied, so it won't hold a tight grip.

So I ordered a few sets of these:

    http://www.fullcirclepadding.com/index.cfm?event=ProductDetail&ProductID=604

I also don't have enough 10lb plates, but I haven't had a problem with ROM using 25's, so it hasn't been an issue...

I'd definitely recommend them, but you gotta replace the collars. They're vital.

They bars weigh ~10-15lbs themselves, so you'd actually max it around 165...

Buying oly weight isn't that big of a deal for me, because I need it for the rest of my equipment anyway...

I already have 750lb+ of oly weight down there, what's a few more 10's...

But if I was concerned about space for oly plates and all that, there's nothing wrong with the powerblock...

I have a generic set of them too, that goes to 40lbs... they're yellow and black, forget what they're called...

But they've worked out great for me... I still use em for shoulder raises, and my wife uses em for all of her workouts...

Right on. Thanks for the feedback. Exactly what I was looking for. I've already got a full olympic plate set, so this would be waaay cheaper for me than getting a full dumbell set or a big Powerblock set. We'll see how it goes. At worst, I'm out just the cost of the handles and collars.

I had concerns about the collars, too. From experience I know sometimes those kind of collars don't stay very well. We had some collars back in school that worked great that were like the lever kind with the latch. Might get a couple of those.

i've been using these for my db handles. make sure they are tight. i've got owned by a few 10lbers before for not having them on tight. they aren't the greatest of collars though :hs:

No problem... Glad I could help.

The reason I went with the collars I linked is because they were $1 each...

    Can't go wrong with that..

These are the closest things I could find to the old steel clamp-style ones I used to use. These say plastic though, so I'm not sure if that inspires a whole lot of confidence.... Anyone else remember the old Olympic style clamps that you would wrap around the end of the bar and then hook and clamp down?

A couple of other options that I came across that seem to be all over the place. Not sure if anyone has experience with either of these:

yeah. could just be my collars though. i have 2 pairs of em. one of them works fine, one on the other set has issues lol. it's either misaligned or the small bar is uneven which causes loss of tightness.

Has anyone tried these? I forgot what store I was at, but one of the workers recommend these. I'm not sure if he was just trying to make a sale, but they were cheaper than a lot of other collars there, and he says they work well. It makes sense that the friction between rubber and metal would hold better than between metal/plastic and metal.

These work great. They are a little pricey but they don't weigh much and are super fast to put on/take off.
