Good choices all around, especially the Irredeemable.

    Any particular genre you like?

Thanks! I told the guy the situation and he chose some for me. I really have no preference, but this Kick-Ass is great stuff I hope it stays around for a while. I don't really like jumping into the middle of a series though....I like to read the entire series so this could get expensive for some early editions I would imagine.

Maybe I'll sell some of my MTG cards for some comics :noes:

Kick-Ass was going to be a single mini-series, but now the writer is thinking of doing multiple ones.

"The Walking Dead" is one that probably everyone here would recommend.

I'll think of more when I have a chance. Would you prefer something that's already finished, or is it okay if it's still ongoing?

It's also been made into a movie AFAIK.

I prefer on-going so I can easily get early editions. That's my only stipulation. I must be able to get every single episode in order to enjoy it.

Like how I did Irredeemable, KA and Blackest Night

Fuck pirating comics...I actually respect the artists work, and @ $2.99 how can;t you afford it?

Agents of Atlas is a really good hero title. I just starting reading the ongoing, which is only 9 issues in. It's got it's own little corner of Dark Reign it seems (actually I'm amazed it got such a huge break at all!), so it's no problem to read as a stand-alone.

    9/10. Good :bigthumb:

I'd recommend Gravel. There's some mini-series of him previously, but the current on-going is just brilliant
It's about a British SAS soldier who joins the magic world and fucks all kinds of shit up.

Fables and TWD as well! I'd skip out on the Cables though, it's not been good for quite a while :hs:. Change that to something like Agents of Atlas like johnny says. It's brilliant

Let's say you're like me, and want to read The Walking Dead...
    They're on issue 64.

    64 x $2.99 = $191.36

Then you decide you want to check out the rest of Kirkman's work...
So you scope out Invincible (64) & The Astounding Wolf-Man (17).

    Invincible = $191.36
    The Astounding Wolf-Man = $50.83

Then you're hooked and catch on to the rest of his work and move into his Marvel stuff, and you start with his Ultimate X-Men run (29). That's $86.71.

Now you've decided that since you've read and enjoyed his run of Ultimate X-Men, you wanted to know what happened before and after his writing was done... So you read the series which is (I think...) 100 issues.

Next thing you know OTCC is recommending all sorts of awesome shit for you to read... Are you really going to shell out the $803.55 for the titles above, PLUS venture into what we recommend?

Or would you rather do it like me,
I download them. Read them. And if I really like them I go by the Trade Paper Backs or individual issues for collecting reasons.

I don't pirate comics because I don't respect the work that goes into them, I pirate comics BECAUSE I respect the work that goes into them and I don't want to miss out.

Also, those prices up there are rough estimate. All of them were $2.99, no tax. Back issues cost more. Variants cost more. So on. So forth.

I wouldn't be up to speed with Blackest Night right now if I didn't pirate. All the shops I've been to are out of issue #2 already :(

:werd: but if your like me and you are a completist then it gets too expensive catching up on the more rare issues. and to get into a series its actually better to pirate :o

    1. Put DC comics in bag
    2. Replace with Marvel comics
    3. Place any Ultimatum or tie-ins in bag with DC's
    4. Light bag on fire and place on Joe Quesada's doorstep
    5. Ring bell

Mr. Coffee, I've become a bonafide Jeff Parker fanboy. The Hood unfortunately sucks ass, almost as if it's half-baked Dark Reign filler, dumped into his lap in exchange for letting him write his baby. But everything else he's done as a writer has been so outstanding. Even Marvel Adventures Avengers kind of rocked during his tenure.

Irredeemable has been great. Good picks. Those two marvel books you have there are boring as shit.

I agree, did not enjoy them much at all....Those were actually the first 2 I grabbed randomly. Then he recommended Kick-Ass and Irredeemable.

Just got back from the shop again :wtc: a little more poor.

Got Locke & Key 1-6 and an epic fuckton of Magic cards
