I just got my quote from my audio install company and this is what i got.......
    Alpine CDA-9815 Headunit........... ..$370
    Focal 165KP Front Components......$462
    Focal 165CA Read Coaxials.............$199.95
    Eclipse EA3422 4CH Amp................$249.95
    2 12"Rockford Fosgate RFP4412.....$259.90
    Rockford Fosgate 501BD AMP.........$251
    Box.................................................$67.27
    Misc Cables/Adapters.....................$301.55

    Product Total..................................$2160.72
    Install.............................................$385
    Taxes..............................................$223.90

    TOTOAL...........................................$2769.62

How does this sound? comes with a 3 year warranty and they do quality insalls, not a circuit city but not as custom as streeteffectz.

The subs are about $100 dollars over priced and so are the rear coaxils. But i already substitured the front spearks which their quote was 700 and the amp for the sub was 500 so i saved $750. If i start bringing in too many "out of store" items my install price will go up so the extra $200 doesnt bother me. Thoughts and comments please.

Looks good, although I'm not a fan of Rockford.

Why are misc cables and adaptors over 300 dollars? :ugh: That is too much, it should be 100 or less. What exactly are they charging you 300 dollars FOR?

And if you want to save more money, I would suggest not spending that 200 dollars on rear fill speakers.

Probably for amp wiring kit and RCA cables. I would shop around some more if I were you.

Then order off the net and install it all yourself. You can spend what you're spending on the net and walk away with 10x the system.

i'd forget "Focal 165CA Read Coaxials.............$199.95 Eclipse EA3422 4CH Amp................$249.95", get a 2 channel amp for the comps... but if you need rearfill, run them off the headunit.

Lots of people don't have the experience or time to install their own stereo's and make them look and sound good though...

True, but he could order all/most of his equipment off the net, including wires. Then take what he's saved and pay a local installer to do the job. While waiting on all equipment to arrive build your box.

most shops charge more to install stuff they don't sell, if they even would touch it. you did not buy from us, you're not our customer.

I haven't ran into that locally, they just charge a bit more for stuff you didn't buy from them.

There's only 2 shops in my city that I would have even attempt installing my equipment. And unless I'm physically unable to do so, they won't be getting it.

Looks good except RF subs SUCK...the dust caps will rattle themselves like hell until you can't stand it anymore. You will LOVE that headunit though, I have a CDA-9813 and it is fucking awesome!

Of all the things to fail on a subwoofer, why would the dustcap be the first to have its glue loosened. I would assume it would happen between the spider/frame, spider/cone, surround/frame, or surround/cone first...

they're first version of the punch xlc had a dust cap problem, but it was taken care of the next year... but that's been forever ago, and the sub is no longer a part of the line.

ugh thats terrible. You would think that in this day and age we would have an adhesive that would bond polyproplene and whatever the dustcap is made out of better :o
