I haven't processed any of them yet... I have quite a few that I plan onto merging into HDR images. The Georgia Tech swim team was on their training trip down there for a week. I'm a 5th year and I was a manager on the trip. I had a lot of extra time to shoot. Never was able to get a sunrise over the ocean though because we were at the pool every morning at 6 AM. That doesn't mean I didn't catch a sunrise from the 10 meter platform though.

    Sigma 100-300 f4 Probably @ ISO 1600 f4, 1/320 or something.

Nearly every other picture was taken with the Tamron 17-50.

I get my Hoya Pro1 CP filter soon.... wish I had it for the trip, ohh well.

Pretty average all around. We have a few standouts.

I was good heh... I was the fastest guy for 3 years. (the guy faster than me was the fastest guy the team has had in the last 20 years who was a senior when I was a freshman).

I attribute the richness of the color mostly to the Tamron 17-50. It really does have excelent color and contrast. The artifical lighting in most locations helps as well.

I've worn a speedo on the beach.... in the Bahamas... international waters.... it's acceptable.

He bought that USA suit just to wear it on the beach... he was just looking for attention... it was still funny though.

I used a tripod for all the night shots. I just bought a Giottos 9180 and a Bogen 488RC2 ballhead (a $100 one, supposed to support 17 pounds), so I wanted to use them to their fullest extent. I was very pleased with the level of performance. Even at 420mm with my heavy sigma 100-300 and extender the setup was still stable in light winds. Here's another hole shot. It was at least 7 feet deep. These two dug it just for fun.

2 or 3 years ago while browsing Deviantart I used to say the exact same thing. The knowledge and knowhow comes over time... along with the gear. Keep shooting and keep buying and you will reach your photographic goals if you put in the time, money and effort. There are still photographers on Deviantart and Pbase who still take much better pictures and have better post-processing techniques than me, but I'm still learning and still catching up to them.

I think a lot of it too is being willing to go take shots that are "annoying" to take. On the rock pictures, in order to focus I had to go put my cell phone on the rock, light it up, then run back to the camera to focus on the cellphone, then run back and remove the cellphone before I took the picture. I tried manually focusing a few times and failed before I decided to do it right. A handheld flashlight would have been nice as well.

    Gear helps as well.
