GUN Just got a new Mossberg 500

    and it's all slimy and oily... can I clean it off with just a cotton rag?

    Pics and info will be coming shortly once I get it cleaned up.

    mine is still slimy and oily, i never cleaned it after I bought it :o

    in fact it still has the bright orange price tag still stuck on both sides, and I bought it a few months ago :o

    I threw an ATI top-folding stock on it a while back, and I'd still like to put a surefire on it, but I need to get a real job first :o

    itll come, it just takes some effort. try a rag and a pair of slip-joint pliers

    Finally got that out... it was practically welded in.

    I changed out the barrells and now when I point the gun up then down, I hear noise(either the wooden dowel and/or the spring moving around) in that bottom barrell... :mad:
    I'm going to call Mossberg and see what's up with that.

    its that damn wooden dowel for compliant waterfowl hunting. take it out
