Keep it stock. It's a small truck. At most a spindle lift in front to even it up, so it doesn't sit like a stink bug.

    therangerstation.com, good tech section.

I've got an 06, the auto in our trucks are pretty good, but the 5 speed is better. To level it out you crank the torsion bars, gives you 1.5-2" lift.

    Before the crank:

Subtle but good difference, stock tires are 31's, I can fit 33's.

    Rangers usually do pretty well.

Decide what kind of offroading you want to do. But if you want true baller status you will do the Dixon Brother's coilover suspension kit with 14" of travel or a SAS.

Welcome to the ranger crew...though I am technically Mazda crew.

The tranny on my 01 ranger blew up at only 60k miles, sold it right after I rebuilt it.

I'm at 100k, still have no problems.
Oh, and fuck cranking t-bars. If you want a shit ride so you can get it a couple inches higher, be my guest. I'd just get spindles

Well then again, it's a fuckin small truck. Treat it like one and you'll have problems.
The problem is some idiots think it's a freakin race car, beat it, then deny being hard on it, and are confused when the tranny and shit go out.

I cranked my T-bars and it's just a little stiffer but not really bad... And its way more level and looks a hell of a lot better.

As for tranny, I'll let you know when I drop my pan and replace the filter in a few weeks. I know that they aren't all that reliable though.

As for other suggestions... blacked out headlights they look sick, 06 tails and whatever else you want.

Ranger forums is good, Therangerstation isn't really my favorite, not enough people on there, but by far my favorite is rangerpowersports.com
