found out what happened. he hit hard on grass not the road. he hit hard as hell hit on his feet, then continued to fall forward and his head slammed into the ground. he was then dragged for quite some ways off the field and onto the road. i am assuming he broke his neck. the high winds that day contributed to his hard landing along with other people too. my buddy in my platoon hit hard on the damn road and said he was unconciuous himself for a few seconds and wound up drug into the woodline.

Thats some fucked up shit. I'm sure they took some wind reading on the ground and it dropped down "low" enough on the ground for them to give the go ahead on the bird. Thats not something you should be doing in ABN school. Maybe a combat jump but not training......

    holy shit :eek3:

Assuming he jumped with something like the military surplus chutes I learned on, he could only get a forward air speed of about 7mph. :eek4: And assuming he did everything right and was able to orient himself into the wind before plf, he would STILL be going over 20mph BACKWARDS when he hit. And if he wasn't able to turn in time, he could have been doing almost 40mph.

I landed with the wind once. It wasn't a very pretty sight. (feet/knees/forehead/feet/knees/forehead/repeat...)

You all should see the Germans jump. Pure stupidity, you couldn't see us until we finally came out of the rain clouds, and then we hit like massive rocks....

    My worst jump!

jumping in the rain actually causes u to decent slower, due to the moisture pockets/air humidity/density or watever.

In theory, yes, but with the addition of the wind I don't think you will be falling any slower.

    ;)

yes wind will indeed fuck you up, but in ideal no wind conditions and rain you will decent slower than usual. but with rain there is usually wind so yeah you will hit hard :p
