Call me an AMD fanboy if you like, but I already have an AM2 system. I have an X2 3800+ OCed to 2.5ghz now and it looks like the 5000+ will do 3.2ghz no problem. I have 2gb of that Crucial RAM and it OCs well and is very stable, plus with the combo and MIR I couldn't resist - $120 after MIR for a faster proc and double memory. As for the video card, I've been seeing a lot of favorable reviews/comparos between the 3870 and the 8800gt, so I went with the 3870 - it's got to be better than the x1600 I have now. :x:

Depending on the motherboard but with that chip I would have gotten 8500ram. :hs:

(I got the same ram) ;)

not a bad choice. i have a athlon 3500+, and im considering a similar proc upgrade, can't justify the money cuz i barely use it though now that im at college w/ the laptop (laptop's core 2 duo @ 2.0ghz)

The unlocked multiplier on the BE chips lets them OC like CRAZY. I am thinking of picking one up to see what it can do on my system with water cooling. Everything I have read says that simply changing the multiplier to 16x is all that is necessary to get that little baby to run at 3.2ghz, no voltage increase or anything.

Ballistix is good memory, but personally I would have gone for the Ballistix Tracer-X, but since you already had some I can see why you chose to get the plain Ballistix.

The 3870 is a great little card and hangs well with upper mid range nVidia cards. It has been getting great review lately.
