i was using roadrunner's live xpe windows, but it takes like 10 mins to startup...

    found out about http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BartPE

    http://www.nu2.nu/pebuilder/

i didn't get into any configuration, i just let it rip the windows file off my cd (xp pro, slipstreamed with sp2) i'm not sure if it matters, but it does have a valid VLK

anyways, it grabbed the files, built me an iso. i burnt it with nero, restarted and bartpe booted up in about 2 mins. i even got firefox to work (opened it from my hard drive)

in my 4 years of college, they never mentioned anything about bartpe or winpe. when we needed to reset admin passwords, we used a linux boot disk.

this is awesome. i need an edu to help me learn how to do more with it

There are several variations of it. I used it a lot when working as a consultant a couple years ago to fix computers. With Vista coming out soon, all the cool XP toys and utilities are about to be replaced.

BartPE rocks for computers that are bogged down with spyware/virus problems. Throw in BartPE and go to cleaning.

    I can't believe you're a computer geek too.
