$80 at sierratradingpost.com with both grey and clear lenses.. I had a coupon for 20% off $100 so I paid $80 for these and got a $20 carhartt shirt for free :big grin:

great price on them.. I'm sure I'm not the only person who thought about getting them for shooting but was turned off by the high retail price, so I thought WMD would like to know.

Yes you can do inserts or have them done into the lens. The inserts are better so you can take advantage of the low cost lens replacement if/when the len's get scratched up. I have a good buddy that got inserts done and from what I remember it was covered at least in part by his vision plan.

He first went to an optometry school because it was cheaper and could be done almost entirely on his vision plan. They couldn't really do the inserts right and were not usable. He then went to a sports specialist optometry and they did it right. Scary thing was he was pretty much whooping on everyone when he was half blind and once his vision was corrected he went on a real tear.

Rudy has some great lenses. The polar fx brown (my usual choice) really makes the brown paper targets pop, I like the racing red for cloudy days or when I want a little more go fast when shooting red dot optics or fiber optics. The golf green is a good all around lens. I use a yellow for low light no light shooting.

I was looking at their website, and not quite understanding how the Rx "insert" works. So they ship you their sunglasses and you get a RX insert made locally and attach them either behind or in front of the sunglasses?

Not an expert on the inserts as I wear contact lenses myself. Anyway I believe when you order the set that takes the insert you take the insert to an optometrist and they make and grind the perscription lenses to fit the insert. The attachment is fairly solid from what I remember from my buddy's rudy's. They stay on his head when he's running around, rolling in the dirt, or whipping his head as he transisitons from target to target.

I drop my sunglasses a lot because when I'm not wearing them I put them on top of my hat and forget there there. Then when I take my hat off they hit the ground. I drop my sunglasses once a day at least. About once a year I pay the $14 or whatever and have the lenses replaced under their warentte program. It's pretty sweet. They got all kinds of lens choices from balistic to specialty types. I got two pairs so I can set them up for sunny and coudy conditions. That way I can switch up as the light changes at a match. The lens attachment is real positive too.

Man I really jacked this thread huh

RP gives you a "template" you can take to any Optometrist, even the Walmarts and they give you the "insert". (I actually think they are the cheapest) and they will grind and fit the inserts for you.

I posted the Rudy Project 40% off code in another thread. I am not sure how long they are going to offer the code, but it won't be for very long. If I get enough referrals from here I will come back on here and hand out some free Promo swag/gear.

I wore glasses in grade school. I hated them because they were forever falling off my face or shifting. This was back before they figured out how to make sports oriented glasses that didn't look like goggles (think kurt rambus from showtime lakers).

If I were to wear perscription glasses I think I would do rudy's and just wear them as my every day glasses.

I know quite a few folks that do. I wear eye glasses and wear some high end frames, but my Rudy's are by far more comfortable. Being asian with the small nose I always had issues with my glasses resting on my cheeks instead of my nose. :mamoru:

My RP's actually sit on my nose where it should and is offset enough from my face that it doesn't get all foggy after I get going.

2 Swat officers, 1 corrections officer and a "security professional" I know all wear theirs daily.

My older brother is in Corrections, and I'm getting him a pair for his BDay.
