:wiggle: It's having 1GB of RAM installed tomorrow at the Apple store, so I'm picking it up at 6pm. What do I need to know guys? I already have a monitor (18.1" Dell :hs:. I wanna pick up a 20" or 23" Apple monitor when I get some more cash). I'm also looking at picking up that cool MS mouse Bo posted a couple weeks ago. I already have some software, but what are some basic programs that I'm gonna need?

Adobe Suite, Macromedia Suite, Transmit, Firefox for the Mac (G5 optimized edition), and Adium unless you are like me and like iChat.

Here is a great list mmy friend created on his site: http://mac.7motion.com/software.htm

Get Quicksilver for OS X. Google it. Its cool. Its a keyboard shortcuts thing. Get Skype for OS X. Hot asian hoes will call you randomly, all the time if you like. Get Azureus, a bit torrent client, for downloading your applicaitons. Get an account on TKA, the only place to consistently find the mac warez you are looking for. Get VLC for OS X, for viewing AVIs and other stuff like that, when quicktime won't work. Get windows media player :)ugh:) to view pronographic .wmvs.

you'll probably already have it, but iLife for sure
instead of quicksilver, get launchbar ;)
bbedit for a text editor (not word processor)
    xcode if you're a dev
phpiCalendar to share your calendars over the web
myPhoto to share iPhoto pics over the web ( shameless plug :o )
    some good screensavers like electricsheep
iWork is all right, and I wouldn't push hard either for or against it
Growl is a handy notification system that a lot of apps are beginning to adopt (i.e. Adium...see www.growl.info)
mPlayer is a handy movie player that handles a lot of other video formats Quicktime doesn't (there's also VLC i believe)

    hope this helps some :dunno:

Fuck an XCode. Try Eclipse, and you won't go back.

It all depends on what you want to do with your computer. You have plenty of power to do just about anything you want to do. Final Cut Pro 4, Adobe Suite, and others will totally eat up your processors and you will love it.

    ENJOY!

Thanks for the list guys. I'll be spending a lot more time in this forum now that I've seen the light.
