i finally found a decent laptop for a good price that i plan on using for music production. i was wondering if i should reformat and install my copy of xp or leave it with vista. i know theres an option for vista lite but i have no idea what or where that is though im sure i could find it if its worth it. i pretty much just want my comp with as little fat on it as possible and i hear vista isnt lean at all. and also i hear there was a way to configure xp for music software and everything where it would run more efficiently. and also if anyone could give me the jist on overclocking and how to. its an inspiron with 3 gigs and 2ghz c2d. any opinions would be great. thanks guys :wavey:

overclocking = more heat, more power consumption = not worth it for laptops
    give vista a try

so how hard would it be to swap out processors on this thing? i would think prices are about to drop soon and if my mobo can handle this cpu i dont see why it couldnt handle more unless im mistaken.

is the cpu soldered into place or is it as easy as a ram upgrade? if i could get 3+ ghz id be ecstatic and wouldnt need a desktop. i just dont know shit about notebooks and have only heard of people building desktops...sorry if i come across as dumb, im new to this

and can you swap out mobos as well?

    .

Also, most laptops won't even let you OC through the BIOS. You'd have to really know your hardware to attempt it.
