How much are you trying to spend on a new lens? I would get the 17-55 AFS when it comes out. I am definately getting that when it does :)

Get a fisheye. Its fun, you will not regret it.

I'd probably just get a plain 50mm lens, a nice quick good quality one shoulnd't be too expensive. (max appeature of 1.7 or so I"d say) this way you have a nice fast lens that is good for lots of things.

I really like 50mm for cars, at car shows. It has a nice working distance, not to close, not to far.

No, don't get a fisheye... I agree it is fun... but you want something that is usuable in more situations.

a 50mm prime would be nice, but a standard zoom 35mm-70mm would also be nice... just depends on what you are doing. If you are doing mainly nature shots, I would sugesst a full range zoom 35mm-300mm but that's only if you are doing nature... otherwise 50mm prime is a nice all around lens.
