What's the case made of? I thought it was aluminum but it feels like painted plastic. And how easy is it to scratch?

it shouldn't scratch unless you put a lot of effort into it.

The powerbooks are very durable. My old one had been to hell and back and only had a number of small hairline scratches. Nothing you could see without getting right up to it. A little windex and paper towel and it looked good as new.

Before the Powerbook I used Dell laptops and they were always much worse for wear under similar conditions.

Definitely aluminum. My GF dented hers at the latch, and I took it apart and knocked out the dent like I was in a body shop class.

Knocking out a dented Aluminum PowerBook case > Replacing a cracked and scratched plastic iBook case.
