I fucking hate telco's I knew I should have doublechecked their "certified" wiring
gotta love it. I did an install to a building out here in phx 6 months ago, and the stupid telco company ordered it to the dmarc, but not extended to the 2nd story. Instead of taking 5min to extend it upstairs, he left and had to put in another purchase order. I said fuck it, and just ended up extending it myself. Telco's are a bunch of pains.
This was a brand new T1 coming into our server room to bring our internet service onto our main provider. They managed to wire it wrong and flipped the pairs.
When we were changing the existing router (a Cisco 2600 that was bought when the 2600's first came out) to the new line, the router failed completely. We thought the firmware was corrupted but the router is completely hosed. So we bought a brand new 2801 and WIC, installed and configured, wouldn't work. Everything pointed to a bad WIC since the cabling was "certifed" by the LEC - so we had Cisco send us out a new WIC - HAHAHA no still didn't work
When everyone (our provider, the lec, Cisco, and the IT staff) had run out of ideas I decided to take the router directly to the smartjack and plug it right in just for shits and giggles - and damned if it didn't work
It has been a bitch of a week. And it just further pointed me along the path of hating telco's
I guess you didn't read the rest of it:
I'll be damned - it DOES say that
i work at an ISP
we deal with this shit allllll the time.
its like pulling teeth with those guys!
