    Dude at work that has the M3 took it in for service today and had a Z4 loaner, so of course, we went out at lunch, found an empty parking lot and had some fun. :big grin:

    Overall impressions: Underpowered, but we both agreed that our perception of underpowered was skewed by what we normally drive. :o It felt fairly predicible and stable, and I really wish I'd have figured out to HOLD DOWN the DTS button to deactivate all the computer controls (they stepped in right when I the fun was starting :( ). The tendency to understeer, even when pushed intoa low-speed corner wasn't what I was expecting, but I bet as the speeds climb, you could induce it to be neutral fairly easily. Felt a lot lighter than it was, almost MIata like. :)

    The interior blew ass, though. :down: The leather was obviously shitty quality, and the styling was ass-awful. Neither of us cared for it- it just felt cheap. Blind spots were pretty big, and it was hard to maneuver it through traffic at times.

    Overall, it's a bit overpriced. If Mazda made it, they'd charge 15k, but since it's BMW, it's low 20s. :down:

    Overall verdict: :bigthumb::bigthumb:.5 / :bigthumb::bigthumb::bigthumb::bigthumb::bigthumb:

    As gay as the original Z3 was, at least it was fun to drive with that sweet semi-trailing arm rear suspension that made sure "snap oversteer" was always an option in any cornering situation. That little bitch spun like a frisbee.

    The 3.0L variant is fun, and moves...but I wouldn't pay the $45+ for it. :down:

    Plus I think the thing is H O A G L Y.

    I was at the dealer this weekend and they had a new X3... that thing redefines ugliness. Actually from the side it's OK, but the front end... :ugh:

    In other news, the new 5 in black is DEAD sexy.

    You should have.

    I swear, they're doing "time trials" with the Metro Rail. I have never seen the damn thing move so fast... You hear the piddly horn and then WOOSH, it flys by you... then one comes the other direction.

    :eek3:

    YOU COULD HAVE RACED IT!!!

    :eek:

    and picked me up for a ride...

    Yeah, my boss has an M3 as well and got the Z4 as the loaner the last time his car went in for service. We also both agreed that it was very underpowered (though, that's not the market they're going for)... But, I think we both agreed that we'd be interested if BMW were to release another M coupe based on the new Z4.

    Miatas haven't been $15,000 for about a decade now. The first one ever was $13,800.

    I think the Z4's are the hotness!

    You were probably driving an automatic since it was a loaner, and an automatic will never be that fun compared to the real deal.
