I love being an XO. Yes the job is the most thankless and shittest job the Army has, but I enjoy it. Freedom to manage a $87M Property Book as I need, support 156 Infantry dudes, supplies out the ass, etc. Plus looking at a PL and simply saying "add me to that trip ticket" to go on a patrol.

Now my commander. Inept. Egomaniac. Leaves his office maybe once or twice a day. Leaves the JSS only when absolutely REQUIRED to. No concept of operations, management, or support. No situational awareness in his AO. Has the TOC NCO prepare his CUA, BUB, Patrol Matrix and other assorted slides required by BN and BDE. Has more PS3 time than anyone in the Company by three fold. Blatantly ignores and disregards the 1SG's input any any given subject.

His biggest Military claims are 42 months as a PL at JRTC. Yes, 42 MONTHS. One 6 month deployment to Iraq on a MITT team.

:sigh: I can't wait to depart this Company for another position. At this point I don't care what it is. "Hello sir, I am the port-a-john cleaner for my BN. Promise they are the cleanest in Iraq."

XO and Plt Sgt are the most boring, thankless jobs in the infantry

Executive Officer. For the Army it's second in the Chain of Command for that unit (Company, Battalion, Brigade, etc).

as the Plt Sgt you are just a bean counter for the platoon, the only thing that makes is your numbers. Numbers of doodz, food, equipment etc etc

That's what it is in the Navy too, but not in Units/Companies. XO refers to the Executive Officer of the ENTIRE Command, just under the CO, which can be anything from a Commander to Admiral (but usually CO refers to Captain to Rear Admiral (upper and Lower) as the highest rank).

    Command being Base or Boat/Ship.

Does anyone know what the airforce uses? I remember seeing some CC/ACC or some shit like that.

Marines use CO/XO down to the Company/Squadron level, anything lower than that, it's OIC(occifer in charge)

I was able to do CA and PSYOPS on my last deployment and I had a blast. Those bastards didnt pick me up when I applied but oh well. I think FA24 is a much better opportunity.
