Sorry, I am kinda new here. As you can tell from the low post count. I have been looking at all the pics you guys have been posting and I noticed that some of you have silencers on your handguns. Now I know depending on what state you live in you are aloud to carry your gun on you. But are you aloud to have a silencer on it??

Feel free to give me the "no Av no Care" response.

If you mean are you allowed to have suppressor in general, yes, with a Form 4, I believe, and a $200 stamp tax.

If you mean are you allowed to have a suppressor on a carry gun, I can't say for certain. Not sure why you'd want to. Sounds like a sure fire way to get your ass in all kinds of trouble should you have to shoot someone. I can just picture the media getting ahold of that story.

One thing I learned about this forum is that they don't act like little kids like in the general OT forum :]

Ask intelligent questions or post intelligent responses in this subforum and the odds of getting flamed are minimal. The postcount derby isn't so important here.

A suppressor on a carry handgun would be a major impediment to concealment and practical carry (make the weapon about twice as long), never mind the potential legal problems should you have to use it. I don't know if the average suppressor is designed for the everyday abuse of holster or concealed carry, either.

The only semi-reasonable way to carry a suppressed handgun would be to have something like a Ruger MKIII with an integrated suppressor like this :

I don't see the point of carrying a full sized .22 handgun though, there are plenty other better options.

This is good to hear. I have hunted all my life but all my guns (really my fathers guns) are on the other side of the country right now. I think it is time that I got my own handgun and start range shooting. I have been to a couple local ranges checking things out.
