I just got a new head unit, and i think i have it pretty much installed, but the one thing i'm a little confused about is where to connect the lead ground cable from the unit.

I'm pretty sure in my previous decks it wasnt grounded straight to the chassis, but I'm not 100% sure. I think instead it was connected to the black wire on my wiring harness listed as 'lead ground.'

Most sites I've looked up suggests connecting this wire to the chassis, but some have said to just connect it to the lead ground cable from the wiring harness. Can anyone give me a definitive answer?

when in doubt, make a new ground, holy fuck in the time it took you to make this thread you could have used a ring terminal and a self tapper to make a new gound.

The black wire in the harness goes to chassis anyway. But if you want to be sure of a clean ground, go ahead and drill it to a decent section of bare metal behind the radio area.
