I probably am off in the definition of Jungle music, but try Robert Rich 's Rainforest (mostly ambient stuff), and a band called Outback.

if youre talking pre dnb 'jungle' id look up kenny ken, congo natty, remarc and such dj types. but if you really are after african rainforest music, id go with the first suggestion..

    Another reality apparently
    also check out jungleravers.com

Go underground for your electronic music needs, fine the no name DJ's and find what you like. Mainstream is cool, but underground is where its at.

It's a style of dance music; IMO the drum breaks and basslines are usually the most promiment parts of the songs. The drum hits were often taken from old funk, soul and rock records, much like hip hop, sometimes using entire drum breaks that were sped up, pitched up or down, or other production techniques. Other times breaks were cut in to individual drum hits and used to make custom drum kits (albeit electronic/sampled kits), and the hits were then used to make patterns.

Generally the older music is referred to as jungle, and then around 1996 or so the media and music listeners started referring to it as drum'n'bass (or dnb) more. Some info at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drum_and_bass - I haven't given it a good read though, so it might be slightly scewed opinions/history.

Mayhem got me booked down there once, I think in September 2001? But there were three parties the same night, and no turn out at the one I played. We did get to see Marcus Intalex the night before though, in a really nice club. No idea what neighborhood it was, but seemed like it was downtown.
