New PR for me there, all the explosive weight lifting I have been doing must be paying off
drunking is more than just your vert, there are guys on the team with better vert but cant dunk. you have to know how to come at the basket along with a couple other things
you should be ashamed
Good work son!!
serious? cmaaaan TZ you gotta dunk
i can dunk a volleyball not a basketball. plus i'm fat and weak...250 with hardly any lbm
1/2 azn 1/2 white men can't jump
gotta pump up them reeboks son
my vertical is 33 inches, i'm going to test it out again next month and see if my leg workout is actually good or not
what does your leg routine look like?
Are you serious. I'm 6'0 and I almost dunked once. Work on your squats and deadlifts more. You should be able to do it. Low reps and high weight should help out alot
how tall are you?
and for everyone else
EDU on how to dunk:
find out which leg you jump highest off of, and if you are a stride or power jumper (1 foot or 2 feet) personally i am a stride jumper, i cant dunk with 2 hands off 2 feet, i feel like i lose all of my momentum.
if you jump higher off of your right foot, that means you must go up left handed, so if you are looking at the goal, move to your right and take a slight curve when you come in, and vice versa if you are a left foot jumper.
you want to get your steps so that you dont have to stutter, whenever you have a stutter step you are losing momentum, and thats inches off your vert, you should be able to take one dribble and 2 big strides with a peak jump, i personally start at about the 3 point line, take one dribble and step with my right foot, pick it up and take 2 steps, jump off my right, and i can do pretty much whatever i want, reverse, windmill, cockback etc.
the actual dunk: if you can palm the ball you dont have to get up as high, all you need to do is to get the majority of the ball over before you push it down with your fingertips, however if you cant palm it, you have to get most of your wrist over otherwise you will hit back iron almost every single time you try and the ball will come out.
when you go up, stretch your arm as far as possible to get full extension, and swing your opposite leg as high as possible (for example, i jump off my right foot, so i bring my left knee up as high as i can, this was explained to me as "however high you bring your left leg is as high as you will be able to jump") focus on jumping straight up and then just try and put the ball straight down, dont try and power it too much or you will miss it.
idk, ill post a video or something if i get a chance
we all know white men cant jump
thanks ae86. I can't palm the ball well enough (while running and jumping anyways) so most of the time the ball slams off the iron while I hang on the rim praying that it went down. maybe thinking of the technique u talked about might help I dont play basketball that often so i'll try it next time i get around to playing.
work on palming a ball in your spare time, like next time u are just sitting around watching tv, pick up a ball and palm it untill you drop it, then keep doing that, eventually you will be able to palm it whenever you feel like it.
untill then when you try and dunk, after you have gotten to where you are gonna take off, instead of dribbling, palm the ball where it feels like you can grip it the best, then try it.. remember, dont focus on hanging or really throwing it down hard, just focus on putting it straight through trying to hit the floor with it
i could do that at 5'9"
spud webb ftw
I'm 5'6.5 and could touch a 10foot rim what kinda vertical is that? *note I can't anymore after putting on weight haha*
your vertical is measured while standing in place
any edu for power jumpers (2 feet)?
Kelly Baggett's Vertical Jump Development Bible
we do all sort of squats, I cant really reamember them all of the top of my head other wise i would tell you. I think it has to do most so with all the cleaning i have been doing + the squats
