pretty tough to get focus in this place cause the light was pretty dim and the action is fast

    30D + 85 1.8
    iso 3200 f/2-2.2 1/500-1/640

looks like a lot of pain I wouldn't want to feel. Nice set though... brings out the emotion in the pics when you see people getting their ass kicked.

lay on the ground next time, it will give the images more depth.

add some contrast, they look a bit flat.

    otherwise, just keep practicing :bigok:

and seeing what Joey says makes sense. I don't shoot sports, and I don't know... but try what he said next time. Can't wait to see. :)

good thing I still have the original files, I'll throw in some contrast :)

as far as laying on the ground, thats what I normally like to do with a zoom lens, but this time since I was using the 85 1.8 on my crop body, I was often too close so I had to stand further back and shoot above the heads of people sitting on a bench. I wish I had Nikon like you and Ben so I could just shoot iso 6400 f/2.8

    Thanks for the comments Joey!

Sure thing. I was actually pretty impressed with the quality of 3200 coming out of the 30D. They are small, but still, they don't seem bad at all.

not sure if this helps or not, but here's my take on #7 (lightroom adjustments on right side)

no NR, they were all shot RAW because I wasn't sure how everything would go with the terrible cycling of the green fluorescent lights

I just put them into Canon's DPP software, +4 sharpen -4 saturation, as far as I know it doesn't do any NR

the 20D/30D do actually put out decently clean files if you can get proper exposure which is why I had to shoot at f/2-2.2

it looks a bit more purply, not too bad though IMO, but you can adjust the hue slider on the blue/purple to adjust it.

a good way to check contrast in LR is to turn on your highlights/ shadow clipping (just press "J" in the develop module)

make sure you have a little bit of clipping, if not, chances are its too flat.

Any tips on composition for the last shot (shot #9) Joey?

I like the content of it but I find the composition to be really wacky
