Anyone going this year?
I might go to spectate, but I don't think I am ready to compete yet.
where is this?
Hamilton, Ontario, Canada
Dude just do it. I competed in my first bjj tournament this weekend, it was a lot of fun
word ive been in 2, and i dont train nearly as much or long as you guys have.
gi? no gi? any info online about it? I might be interested in it
both are available
did a 3 year old set that tourny up or what?
i will be there
where do you train?
what do you mean?
small club, just outside of kingston, ontario.
i will probably be doing gi 3 years or less and no gi 1year or less.
under 140 division
I will be the guy with the I <3 IDB patch on my gi.
how tall are you?
5'6. im about 147 right now. i will probably drop 4~lbs and then dehydrate the rest.
Well for starters, look at the No Gi rules. Apparently if you run away from your opponent you get 1 point
Then look at the Divisions: The only Beginner class listed is 140lbs and under (gi and no gi), Intermediate is 140-155 only, and advanced is 155 to 170 only. Then there are no divisions for 170 and up?
they have all skill divisions for every weight, for both no-gi and gi
I see how you are reading it but I think you are mistaken, I am pretty sure they have everything
you are correct. it is also -1 point for running away
The tournament I did the lowest weight class was <145. I weighed in at 142 fully clothed. There were only 4 dudes in my divison and I ended up taking 1st rather easily. I should have competed in the next division up (145-159) even though it would have fucked up the brackets (there were 4 in that division too) atleast I would have had some challenging matches. I almost feel bad, I beat a high school wrestler and a dude I train with that sucks. If this is a much bigger tournament with a lot of talent in all divisions thats one thing, but if not, dont cut. Compete at your natural weight and see what happens
jesus, what are you guy's 12? seriously, eat something!
I'm 5'9, 200 lbs
What!?! What!?! You're talking to the 1st Annual Central Valley Jiu Jitsu Tournament Featherweight CHAMP...how about some respeck?? I'll armbar you
my buddy competed last year at joslins and he said there were 30 some guys in his division. <140 and <155 have boatloads of people.
qft. im going to kfc as soon as im done grappling.
