MMA Josh Koscheck should be ranked as the #1 WW right now in the UFC

    Without a doubt.

His striking is far superior compared to guys like GSP, Hughes and Diego, he's much more of a strategical striker, very methodical like, he sets up his opponent and attacks relentlessly when they least expect it, resutling in a set up for a brutal takedown or just a straight knockout.

I can also say with complete confidence that his wrestling skills are completely unmatched and on a completely different level than any other wrestler, yes, even Matt Hughes. He would tear his shit up something nasty (mind you, this coming from a huge Hughes fan)

Another part of his game that doesn't get that much attention, but nonetheless very important is his mental game, really, the only word to describe it is world class. He uses tactics such as physical intimatidation, bullying tactics, intense staredowns to get inside the heads of his opponent, and mentally wear them down until they can't take anymore. This is a mark of a true professional.

My prediction is that he takes the title at the first opportunity he gets, no matter who's holding it at that time, he will beat them in such a convincing fashion, nobody will ever want to step in the ring with him.

i have to agree. boring as he is, the blanket is mastering his opponents by not playing in to their games.

That's not his fault. Blame Diego. Kos-Check was pushing the action to the max, but Diego was scared and didn't want to get hit by the Kos-Check, so he switched to a jab and run gameplan.

Kos picked Diego apart and had him scared to do anything. IMO it was a perfect fight for him, and I enjoyed watching Diego get beaten... it looked easy.

I honestly think Diego's gameplan was to get taken down and work his BJJ. That ddn't work out for him except the one time Kos took him down at will at the end of the first. He had nothing in the stand up.

I'd say Matt Serra is the #1 ranked WW right now... The belt he now wears around his waist supports my argument!

All this ranking crap is stupid. The only ranking that matters is who the champion is, and who are the top 5 or so contenders in Joe Silva's eyes...

    IMHO...
    Matt Serra - Champion
    1. Matt Hughes
    2. GSP
    3. Josh Koscheck
    4. Diego Sanchez
    5. Karo??

The new MMA Weekly Top 10 was just released, but I personally think it's their worst rankings in a long time.

I think everyone will see as we get more and more MMA and cross competition between org's that ranking systems are going to become more difficult to produce due to the nature of MMA. You will have a champ, and several top tier fighters always, but to try to rank them 3,4,5 is going to be very difficult as they will all have various wins and losses to each other.

Does catching GSP with a punch make serra instantly better than every other top 10 WW? Probably not. Does KOS out jabbing diego instantly throw his "rank" above the likes of Penn and Karo? Doubtful. But it does put them in the mix.

Maybe MMA needs some sort of crazy computerized BCS ranking system. Or maybe continually hold 8 man tourneys for all divisions with the winner having a title shot.

To me the rankings mean nothing, just a mildly interesting sidenote to the sport.

All we seen was a steady jab....not much with his combos or we havent even seen heavy knockout hands or feet

I admit he may soon be #1 but not now and he will always be a wrestler.

    At 155 sure.

BJ just needs to watch his conditioning at 155...those guys have no quit. And we seen what happened to Penn at 170

Josh Koshcheck is the #1 pound for pound fighter in the world. I'm sure he could beat Liddell, Shogun, Silva, Fedor, & Crocop all in 1 night.

He took out Arona, who arguably beat Fedor, and if Fedor was the best in the world, that must mean that Judo Thierry is the best fighter ever.

Excellent point. I like the way you think.
