I am going in on active duty for 4 years in the Army NG and was told 60,000 for my bonus. What can I expect in basic, and when do I get my bonus? after basic correct? i forgot to ask my recruiter.

You are going in on active duty for 4 years in the national guard? You might want to check and see exactly what you signed lol. Bonuses usually start getting paid when you complete all of your training and get to your first permanent duty station.

Make sure that bonus is on your contract. When I joined, there were a few people who were unhappy because their "bonuses" were never in their contract as promised by their recruiters.

1: make sure its in your contract
2: you get the bonus after AIT
3: don't fail AIT or get into trouble cause they like taking it away any way possible

When you go to MEPS for your physical and swearing in, you will sit down with someone that will go over your contract with you. This person will be incredibly busy and will try to get you in and out as quickly as possible. Any mistakes that they make on your contract will be permanent, so make sure that you COMPLETELY understand everything that is in black and white. And remember: IF IT IS NOT IN YOUR CONTRACT, YOU WILL NOT GET IT.

Your contract will state exactly how long you are required to serve in active duty, guard, or IRR status. It will also spell out exactly how your bonus will be paid to you. You will not see a penny of your bonus until after you graduate from AIT. You will get some or all (depending on what is written in your contract) of your bonus after you graduate from AIT and show up at your first duty station (or Guard Armory). It will be up to your unit to process the paperwork to start your bonus payment, so make sure you don't piss off anyone when you get there.

Yeah its rediculus how much money they will throw at you but, as soon as you screw up the slightest bit they take it away. I got an 82 on my asvab and they got me a huge list of jobs I could do. The only reason I am doing it is so that i can get some better direction in what i want to do in life.

That's more than I made my whole 5 years in the military, but as much as I enjoyed it no amount of money would've made me reenlist.
