It won't be the first time I'll be working out seriously and vigorously though.

    A little back story:
Went to college and ballooned up to about 260lbs (I'm 5'10"). I got tired of being fat so I tried eating right and started running and riding a bike a lot. (Running started at 1-2 miles, then went up to 6 miles; biking started at around 10-12mi, then 50-60 mile rides). I got down to 175lbs and was in decent shape - not much definition, I didn't have much muscle mass. I am now close to 200 again because I've been pretty dormant and haven't been very active due to being busy at work and girlfriend stuff.

Well, I have decided to get back into shape and am signing up to join a gym tomorrow. It will be my first actual gym membership as the only gyms I've ever used is apt complex gyms for free. I didn't want to pay for a membership, but the group classes they offer sold me. I am really interested in the "boot camp" and "300" workout programs.

That's it. Just wanted to introduce myself :wavey:and see if you guys had any tips so the brolly motherfuckers won't beat my ass over some stupid shit if I do something wrong in the gym.

how did you know i biked?

i am active with dualthons, but am trying to get more into triaths. swimming is my weak point.

i mainly run and bike by myself, but do have some fellow bikers and runners i go on long trips with.

i think it was aimed at me, but whatever. cycling is fun as shit for me.
I did a lot of just running errands all over town on the bike, then I just set out one afternoon and rode until I got tired. Almost felt like Forrest Gump. That was my first 50mi trip. Then any day I had off work and the weather was nice, I'd hop on and ride to some nearby city, grab a quick meal and ride back. Every trip was by myself though.

Consistency is the most important thing. Read the stickies and the archive for nutrition and fitness advice.

As far as gym etiquette, just be a considerate human being and you'll be fine.

Good luck, most questions will be answered in the stickys and archives. Good luck with everything just stay consistent like someone else already said.

For the gym just don't leave a machine with all your sweat and re rack your weights.
