Hey guys just wanted to say hello as I just joined the photography hobby group ;) I already had some point and shoot cams in the past and now sold my Sony 717 and bought a Nikon D40 to get started with DSLRs.

You think the US is the first to get everything? :hsugh:

Welcome ... the first thing you need to do to be in the DSLR crew is learn to make borders

Haha I already got some + points as I just bought a Mac and loaded CS3 Beta ;) So will do some actions for borders and my big 1000x1000 watermark.

    No just a joke ;)

I will try the cam out around christmas time and in the holiday and I hope I will get used to it soon.

for some reason I like the d40 much more than the d50 and I can't pinpoint why...?

  7. I started with sony 828, fun cameras the 717 and 828. Did you keep your 717, I still have my 828 but rarely ever use it anymore, but the video feature does come in handy sometimes :naughty:

Yeah I used a 828 from a friend too for some time it was quite a big step up from the 717 because of the speed.

I'm currently selling the 717 as I dont need it anymore.

And I will be buying an HD Camcorder so no need for the video function ;) If you do homeporn do it right :>

    I used to have a F717 before I switched to a D70, and then a D200. It's like a snowball.
