Picked up a Ruger 10/22RB for $180 today w/ full intention of using nothing other than the receiver.

    Recommend me a barrel...

I've decided I'm going to do a Volquartsen TG2000 trigger assembly and likely do a Hogue stock.

If you guys were building a new 10/22 plinker what would you do?

  2. Welcome :wavey:

I just picked up a Tactical Solutions aluminum barrel. I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet, but the quality is great and it is so light! I have a Hogue Overmold stock. It's simple, light, rugged, and cheap. I like it.

I like the 16 GM fluted sporter barrel. Lightweight and it's steel. I would recommend the kidd trigger group over the VQ. It is much much more ill.

The kidd trigger is the best trigger on any gun I own. I can hand my 10/22 to any serious gun guy and say "Check out this trigger yo". When they pull the trigger it's like "What the fuck is this, AWESOME".

I've got some serious good triggers on my other guns so that is saying something. Really untill you pull on a kidd you just don't know. In fact I think I'll go get my 10/22 out of the safe and sit in front of the TV a while dryfiring.

GM makes good stuff. I just bought a YHM threaded barrel, they have pretty good prices, but a little more expensive than GM.

Also, make sure to pick up a few Tactical Innovations 25 round mags, they are awesome.

  13. What do you want to use the gun for? There are heavy bull barrels that are better for benchrest shooting and there are light bull barrels that are better for having fun.

I'd like to keep it light. Bench shooting really does nothing for me..

  15. My Tactical Solutions barrel weighs 15.2 oz.

I have a 20" GM bull barrel, worst decision evar. Get the 16" whatever you decide to get. Mine's accurate as hell but I'm sure it would be with 4" less metal on the front end of it.
