McCain said he was open to voting for an assault weapon ban, depending on the details.

But the Senator opposed the two major gun-control measures of recent years, the 1994 ban on several types of assault weapons

Well which one is it? You can't tell what politicians will do. Its a crapshoot. I mean, you can pretty much tell the ones who want the stuff gone, hilary, etc, but the ones who seem like they are for it will fucking stab you in the back too.

Aka "cowboy texans bush family" first one gives us a couple shitty import laws, second one gives a barrel import ban. Who woulda thought these texans would do that?

McCain is more of a flip flopper than Kerry was. He literally will run to the nearest cameras before his fellow congressmen just to get on the TV and get his time in the spotlight. He will change his views literally within days depending on how polls go.

Hell he can't even make up his mind on the issues. He has sided with pro gun but has also sided with anti gun depending on how the momentum has gone. To me that's more dangerous than a confirmed proud anti gun politician, at least you know where they stand and are likely to vote.

I really don't trust McCain, seems like he jumps around too much. I've yet to see any GOP candidates that I like. I've heard rumors of Rudy Guiliani run which at first sounded like a good thing, until I found out he is anti-gun. That ruined it all for me. Are there any other potentials out there?

Oh Christ not this again . I hope to god that this election doesn't go the route of the last one. "I'm voting for this person because the last person I'd want in office is the other person!"

I honestly hope Hillary gets a term, just to show everyone how bad it really CAN be.

That seems terribly counterproductive given how many gun control laws have been repealed.

Why don't you cut off your nose to spite your face while you're at it?

I couldn't support someone who so slavishly cuddles up to Teddy Kennedy. :mamoru:

Also, his gun lock technology stance bothers me and I strongly disagree with that thing about so-called "Saturday Night Specials"

Besides, he'll never get the nomination, he voted against the same-sex marriage amendment, so the fundamentalist base that the GOP loves so much will never allow him.

I dont trust mcain at all, like was said earlier he flip flops more then kerry, but if its between him and hitlery i guess he'll get my vote, I think I'de rather vote for Rice then any of the other above mentioned.

I just don't think a female president would be a good idea at a time when our enemies don't see women at the same level as men. A woman chief exec would be handicapped and viewed as weak before a word was said in negotiations with Islamic radicals (hell, even with some of our allies), and that's bad for this country, whatever your feelings on either Rice or Clinton.

When everyone running is an ass then it comes down to that. We haven't had a good candidate to actually vote "for" since Reagan.

For me there are 2 major issues that make or break it, immigration and the 2nd amendment, there are others, but right now those 2 are at the top of my list.

We agree on that. I still have a hell of a lot of respect for his service record.. but not his voting record.
