Have a jl 300/4 for my highs. It comes on and goes out a lot recently. My theory is my RF battery is not giving the "picky" JL amp constant juice. Is it time to put in a yellow top?

i'm gonna guess a shorted or blown speaker is causing the amp to go into protect. it's not very common for a 4 ch amp to shut down due to voltage. that's a problem more common with sub amps.

I have no idea if this has any correlation, but on a hot day where my a/c is cranked up and the radiator is going the amp worked fine. Every other day it is cutting in and out. My theory is the battery may need replacement. This is all a guess....

I'd agree its either this or possibly loose wiring somewhere.

Has any of the connections on the amp been touched lately?

try unhooking that speaker and see if you still have issues.

What about any speaker wire changes / adjustments?

I agree with taking one speaker out of the equation to try and diagnose.
