I just got promoted to blue belt, but the belt is just a generic, cheap, blue belt. Anyone know of a good site or brand of belt to get? Thanks for any information.

I've always wanted an Atama belt, but that's just me. I have a Ouano. It's a bit stiff at first, but it "eventually" softens up. Grats though

there are a lot of belts that will be better than what you have. it really is going to boil down to preference and how much you want to spend on it.

and congrats. where do you train?

The thing that sucks is that they ship from CA, so it takes some time.

    Congrats on the belt..

jjprogear is good stuff.. Lots of options out there - I'd actually do some reviews based on how you personally like your belts. I like mine thin and flexible because I hate it coming untied. Some people like thick, tough belts so they last long but they typically come untied.. Some people find an untied belt an advantage - I like mine tied.

My shitty $4.99 orange belt in ju-jitsu stays tied through nearly anything we do. My $18.99 Kikskin whitebelt in BJJ comes untied with almost every roll.

I went ahead and got an Atama belt. It was like $20. I don't really mind it coming untied at all, doesn't bother me.

Wonder how long the road to purple will be.

Yea but not really worried. There were like 8 or 9 of us that got promoted which is a good 30% of the daily classes.

Been training at this place for like 5 months or so. I've trained before, but its been off and on. I feel like i've been soaking in so much information lately at this place. I thinks its just that I like the instructor and everyone is willing to help.

if you want to be promoted, the WORST thing you can do is move because of school/work.

But if you stay at the same place for a long time, on average it should be ~2 years from now.

I sometimes wear a blue gi as well. Since I'm the only one with the red gi I thought that might be the best way to pick out who I am. Do you go on Gi days?

Had he not received the purple before leaving, he probably would have been stuck at blue at his new school for at least another year.
