He kept asking me how to get the picture on the back display

He was pissed when I told him most DSLR's don't work like that.

I told him to get a light box and a 90mm f/2.8 Tamron for cheap good macro shots.

will that 90mm tamron even work on the D60? or would it only be manual focus.

nikon is so fucking stupid for not putting the AF mechanism on the D60

tell him to take it back and hire someone. if you don't know how to use it, jewlery is the last thing you should be shooting. shit is about the hardest thing to light well.

I posted a great link to a website on how to attempt it, but don't have it bookmarked so you'll have to search for it :o

I could do it but I have zero experience in it...

I'm sure after a few hours of practice I could get it down.

honestly most amatuers and even pros who didn't do an apprenticeship have to cheat, like taking out the glass on watches.

Dean Collins has a decent video on it if you can get past the 80's attire

The jeweler that made my wife's ring for me wants me to drop off some cards w/ him so he can pass 'em out. I call him Slick Rick the Jeweler. Taken equivelant of a new Hyundai from me in the last 2 years. :wtc:

i know a photographer that does a lot of product photography and he always gets calls from jewelers who try to take their own pictures. they often fail and are frustrated because lighting is extremely difficult.
