    I quit tobacco a week or so ago...and although I didn't weigh myself before I quit or anything, I did know that i was in the 173-5 region

    so here we are 8 days later, and I now weigh 187 pounds

    I have to assume that some of that was gained previous to this week and I just didn't check to find out, but regardless it doesn't matter because here's my question:


    Should I be bulking or backing down and cutting right now? I just started working out when I quit and although I don't feel like I look fat yet, I'm pretty fucking concerned. My original plan was to bulk since quitting tobacco makes you eat a lot (hence the weight gain) and since I was eating an insane amount of calories anyway I might as well go the distance and get some solid muscle....but I don't want to keep doing what I'm doing and go from skinny to a fat shit in a matter of a month.

    So should I hit the panic button or continue what I'm doing?

    it really doesn't look like fat to me at all


    i mean obviously it wasn't all perfect lean muscle, but I have no gut and no flab or anything like that. if anything it just looks like my frame is wider..that's the best way i can describe it to you (which looks fine by the way because I had a very thin frame)


    let's put it this way, if you took 100 people to look at me shirtless 0 would say i'm fat

    nicotine is an appetite suppressant. so you've probably been eatin more. combine with just starting a workout routine, some of thats gonna be muscle

    pics would definitely help

    It also acts as a stim so it will assist with calorie burning. You are probably best to monitor your diet to ensure you do not gain too much fat.

    You been lifting a week. You did not gain muscle. You probably screwed up with the weight measurements. Some of it may have been water retention, some of it fat. But i am willing to bet you did not weigh as little as you posted.

    Also, you may have weighed yourself dry in the morning first, and bloated at the end of the day second. Thats about 6ish lbs for me right there.

    Relax.

    post pictures of yourself. Most likely you have very little muscle mass and need to get on a good routine and start lifting heavy. Dont worry about your weight. Weigh yourself once a week, and guage your progress by your lifts, and the mirror.

    oh and to answer the "real weight" questions

    for what it's worth, i weighed myself when I went to the gym the past 2 days, one of which was at night and one which was in the morning and I weighed the same both times


    that's all i know, beyond that, you guys definitely know better than i

    look i understand you guys think i'm just making a typical gay "oh look at this, stupid question" post

    i've never been able to gain weight efficiently in my entire life, and now it's happening suddenly and QUICKLY. add that to the fact that my parents are FAT and then you have a basic idea of why I'm nervous. Both of my parents have pretty bad weight problems, and my dad was just as skinny as I was when he was a kid.
