JDM vs USDM?

    im curious as to what the difference between JDM and USDM motors is? If i am doing a swap, why do i want JDM or J spec or whatever?

    Depends on the car. Usually, Japanese motors run higher compression due them having higher octane fuel as the norm.

    jdm are tougher to smog in cali. that's about it.

    they are tougher because they usually have fewer emissions-related trinkets on them.

    emissions and all the wires run to the right side of the car instead of the left like on ours so there'll be some splicin to do.

    as already stated, often its usually just a very small bump in compression. USUALLY hardly noticable...

    buuuut, in some cases things are very different

    take the b18c5. different exhaust manifold, different intake manifold. quite a bit more compression. lots of differences

    really depends on the motor.
