I need to design and code a B+ Tree in either java or c++ from scratch. I'd prefer to use java. But that isn't my main problem, I'm not really sure where to start.. we weren't given any packages or any useful starting tips.. it's kinda of a free for all project, just make it work using any means.

So my question is this, can anyone give me a general outline? What is the best way to implement a B+ Tree?

had a similar assignment when i was in school, to start, id recommend a doubly linked list

second, build a smaller subset of the problem (ie. 3 node tree, 4 node tree, etc.)

once the subset is solved it should be pretty easy to go from there

I am very sure that there will be some B+ tree codes out there... likely in GPL if you search for them?

No good for an assignment though.

I didn't know this is for an assignment... I thought it's for another open-source project of some sort...

Google for it, it is quicker than me typing out something semi-quasi...

I kind of assumed it was an assignment since he said "from scratch" and "we weren't given any packages..." but I could be wrong.
