Does the installation of this software update require the previous updates insatlled on the computer? What if i was to uninstall Java 2 SE update 10, then install?

I'm basically asking whether all these updates are supposed to add up, or replace previous verions.

The updates are cumulative. Each one contains all the others.

If i'm not mistaken that means i can rid of all the other updates? (6, 7, 8, etc..)

    Just want to make sure.

I always uninstall the older version of Java before I install the newer version; I don't like having all that extra crap scattered on my hard drive. And knowing Sun Microsystems, they intend for you to uninstall old versions yourself, unless you need them to run programs that don't work with new versions -- but that's very, very rarely necessary. I've only ever had one program that needed an old version of Java, and it's running on a server in my office. Your plan is fine.
