LOL tighten restrictions. Now you'll need a special permit to buy a knife. Gotta love it.

  8. I like how people are conditioned to look to the government to solve these kinds of problems, and how governments assume that they can solve them.

Just out of interest, how would you stop people from stabbing each other? :o

It's a problem here in England where black teenagers are stabbing each other. The government is now ensuring that anyone over the age of 16 who carries a knife will be prosecuted and sent to jail for a max of 5 years unless they have a good reason to carry the knife.

Don't bite my head off about living in a country that restricts the rights of citizens to bear arms or whatever, I'd just like to know how you think knife crime could be combated :o

People are always going to cause harm to others. It's an idiot that thinks the way a person is killed matters. Shot, stabbed, bludgened to death, dead is dead.

If you make it illegal to carry a knife/gun/cane/pen then you're just going to make innocent people easier victims. Last time I checked, the criminals that hurt others arn't likely to follow a law prohibiting a weapon.

I mean murder/assault is already illegal... and if they're already not following that law, what makes you think they're gonna follow another law?

Ban working out, people must be of the same strength, that way there's no strong arm robberies.

Long term you could try to minimize violent crime by trying to fix the bad socioeconomic conditions that often lead to it. You'll never get it all. The immediate answer though is that there will always be someone who needs to immediately stop someone from stabbing/shooting/raping/beating/etc them. If I were that person, I'd want to have a gun. Your citizens would have quite a lot of work to do to earn back the "right" to effective self defense.
