Just a few years ago, basically your only options for online degrees were from a degree mill which is utterly worthless or University of Phoenix which isn't exactly a respected institution, to say the least. I was just doing some research since I REALLY hope to finish my Bachelors degree while in the Corps and I discovered that Penn State now has online bachelors degree programs :eek4:. So now you can serve in the military while earning a degree from an Ivy League college and one of the most respected in the country. The only thing is they don't exactly offer a large selection of degrees to choose from.

    Here's what they offer...

    comments?

I've been looking for a real university to finish my degree from online and I think i've found it, just wish they offered more degree programs like Finance, Accounting, etc.

Does anyone know of any other "real" universities like Penn State that offer similar online degree programs?

A lot of colleges work with the military to give you a chance to get your degree. Most of the bases I've been to overseas have some kind of college presence. When you sign up with a college through the on-base route, they will usually manage your progress as you move from base-to-base. That way, you can get some credits at whatever college you are near at one base, and then get more credits at whatever college is at the next base you're at. And you continue on down this route until you meet whatever degree requirements your managing college has.

That would take so long as opposed to online.

Possibly. For me, I learn and study better when I'm in a classroom environment. And there's always the widespread bias against an online degree. With the way I described, you get a standard degree from a well-known college/university. :dunno:

I'm sure i'd learn better in an actual classroom enviroment, but it would take incredibly long while on active duty, especially in an MOS that deploys often. You could probably take no more than 1 class at a time.

I totally agree with the widespread bias against online degrees, that's why i'm looking for "real" established universities like Penn State, University of Maryland, etc. in which their diploma's, transcripts, etc. are identical to actual students living on campus.
