A&P I've had my camera for 3 years and just discovered

Discussion in 'Lifestyle' started by coughlin's law, Sep 22, 2009.

  1. Playing with the autofocus points... for the longest time I wasn't sure why I couldn't focus in low light (in addition to a lens) -- and then it dawned on me... I wasn't telling the camera where to focus -- I was expecting it know...

so the focus/recompose method never worked for you, huh?

  4. Didn't try, thought of playing around with the settings some more and seeing where that got me...

I'll also use the pop up flash to help focus but I'll have it turned down -2.

I don't think you understood what he meant. Did you try focusing on a subject and then composing for a shot? Even in low light it should of worked fine, unless the subject is in motion.

    wow...

yeah my biggest oops was thinking my AF motor was fucked, only to find out I'd hit the switch pulling it out of the bag and it was in Manual:o

well that and the time I forgot to check my ISO before starting a shoot, and so I shot for 2 hours downtown in bright daylight at 1600 ISO:o:rofl::mamoru:...couldn't quite figure out why I had such fast shutter speeds all morning:o.

I think switching to Nikon will help.

you can help balance the scales with girth and turbodude on the one side

Didn't you ever, even by accident, realize that when you held down a half press of the shutter that you locked the focus? Wouldn't it occur that you could use that to focus and recompose?

Epic, I got my Nikon in 2006 and I've been having the same problem. I just tried this and it works, thanks!
