thanks Rebs. The last 2 days i've worked out, i've eaten 2 tuna sandwiches and a bowl of cereal a half hour before my work out. Jeebus christ, i feel so much more energy during my workout when i'd normally get burned out half way through. i was actually able to squeeze 10 pullups out now! :mamoru:

*If* I'm not missing something here...

carb-ups are generally used before long endurance events and follow a specific pattern of depletion and overload. Just plain actually eating before a workout isn't a "carboload".

there was a thread in OT about pre workout nutrtition. He and others listed protein shakes. This is just him adding carbs pre workout. So youd understand his suprise when it works.

You should be loading on complex carbs all day. BTW bread is a pretty shitty source of good carbs and the cereal your eating probably is too, eat plain oat meal (steel cut or rolled) and potatoes.

How many times do you have to wash a carb before it's clean?

Most bread has a shit fuck of sugars and fats added for taste with the exception of some whole oat and wheat brands.

I always eat like an half hour before working out. Either an Ensure or at least an apple.

Since I'm cutting I always get iffy on loading on carbs, and I dont know why. I guess it's all the stupid low carb shit that's been on TV and in the grocery stores for years.

    • Simple carbohydrates are digested quickly. Many simple carbohydrates contain refined sugars and few essential vitamins and minerals. Examples include fruits, fruit juice, milk, yogurt, honey, molasses, maple syrup and sugar.
    • Complex carbohydrates take longer to digest and are usually packed with fiber, vitamins and minerals. Examples are vegetables, breads, cereals, legumes and pasta.
Basically whether bread fits into your diet or not is going to depend on a) your caloric needs and b) the macronutrient profile you've set up for yourself based on your goals.

There are plenty of people here who can tell you that you don't need to go carbless to get shredded, and you definitely *do* need carbs when you're bulking. Different people react differently to high vs. low carb diets though, which is why results vary.

what bread is this? most bread has around 2g of fat per 100 calories, which is around the same as oats, and maybe 2g of sugar. A multi-grain whole wheat bread is also as low or lower GI than oats, if you are concerned with that.
